Frequently Asked Questions about Invoice Tax & Multi-Currency Converter

How do I calculate VAT inclusive vs exclusive?

Check the 'Amount includes VAT' checkbox if your input is the final Gross amount (e.g. the price tag). Leave unchecked if your input is the Net price before tax. The tool derives the other value automatically using the standard formula.

Are the exchange rates live?

Yes. JoyTools connects to the Open Exchange Rates API (open.er-api.com) to fetch market exchange rates. Rates are updated daily and rounded to standard decimal places per currency.

How is VAT calculated for invoices?

VAT Exclusive: Gross = Net × (1 + VAT%). VAT Inclusive: Net = Gross ÷ (1 + VAT%), VAT Amount = Gross − Net. Both methods are supported — just toggle the 'includes VAT' checkbox.
